2.    Brainstorm the meaning of “wife”.

3.    Define satire.

4.    Reading by Judy Brady: “I Want a Wife” and complete discussion questions and submit.

*20 minute video clip.

 

A.      Identify author’s point of view in a non-fiction essay.

B.      Analyze essay for words in context and connotation (shades of meaning).

C.       Analyze a non-fiction piece of satire.

TUESDAY 2/2

Continue working on Membean 15 min * 3 days per week

SAT READING SEMINAR

 

 

A.      Utilize listening and notetaking skills.

B.      Utilize active reading strategies on an SAT practice test.

C.       Evaluate passages for command of evidence, inference, words in context, and analysis.

 

WEDNESDAY 2/3

  1. Evergreen Text – Chapter 3: Developing the Paragraph, Parts A, B and C: Practices 1 – 7.
  2. college reading, chapter 4, Implied Main Ideas pp. 145-185.
  3. College reading homework 1-34.

Turn in completed college essay questions before the end of the class.

 

 

A.      Define a paragraph and create a topic sentence

B.      Read, take notes  on writing narrowed topics, controlling ideas, and topic sentences in a paragraph.

C.       Read to find implied main ideas in non-fiction writing.

THURSDAY 2/4 

 Critical Reader QOD

Continue working on Membean 15 min * 3 days per week

1.       Chapter 27 Part A Subject Verb Agreement.

2.       Continue grammar, chapter 27 part B and Practice #3.

And part C Special Singular Constructions and practice #4.

3.       NO RED INK – Set #1: Subject Verb Agreement Practice and Quiz #1.

 

 

A.      Identify subjects and verbs.

B.      Identify the verb that agrees in number with subject.

C.       Utilize technology to complete grammar lessons.

 

 

FRIDAY 2/5 

1.        Finish Membean segments.

2.       Take quiz #1 in Membean.

3.       Start Douglass bio with questions or finish Gatsby with questions. Must do questions for credit.
